I have now completed week one and now moving on to week two. For the week two task today I'm doing School Strike For Climate. You have to visit the "School Strike For Climate Australia" website and list three new facts you didn't already know and take a photograph of something that you are doing around your home that is helping the environment. A few months ago my class and I walked around New Brighten Beach, held reusable bags in our hands and had gloves on and we were picking up litter that we saw lying around or floating somewhere. The reason being why we were walking around New Brighton not only was it too help save the environment but it was for our inquiry as we were doing wearable arts. As we were walking I saw piles/tones of rubbish so I picked it all up and I managed to get my bag filled to the very top! Have you ever been out somewhere to try and save our planet by picking up some litter?
Facts
1. Climate change is one of the biggest problems facing the world and it isn’t being addressed quickly enough.
2. The climate crisis protests were likely the largest public demonstrations in Australia since the marches against the Iraq War in 2003.
3. Organizers of the school strike for climate claimed about 300,000 people attended dozens of rallies, including an estimated 100,000 in Melbourne and 80,000 in Sydney.
For helping save the environment at home, I have been emptying every single rubbish bin in my household and putting them in the correct bins, here are some photos.
Kia Ora Bella,
ReplyDeleteI have been out a few times picking up litter to help make a difference. When I was in Girl Guides, we did an Emu Parade (Australian slang for a parade of people who gather to pick up rubbish) once every couple of months. Its horrifying to see how much rubbish people leave behind, so I am pleased there are people like you and I who go out and pick it all up. We only have one planet, so we need to look after it. Thankfully, with lots of governments declaring a state of climate change emergency, the amount of litter has reduced as people and companies become more conscious of what they’re using, how to reuse it, and where to appropriately dispose of it.
You’ve included some amazing facts about the climate strike. It was so well organised and really helped make a difference in governments. It goes to show that when people stand together, we can achieve incredible things.
Perhaps you could add some guides to how to correctly recycle goods to your post. The best way to make a difference is to spread the information on what needs to be done. What other ways can you think of that people can do to reduce their footprint on the planet?
Keep up the great work!
