Today's Summer Learning Journey Task was to put yourself in Neil Armstrong's shoes and think about how you might have felt when you first landed on the moon and describe how you felt. I found this activity challenging but achievable and I'm really proud of the poem I have created and the outcome. Have you participated in the Summer Learning Journey Programme?, If so what Activities have you completed so far?
I climbed into the rocket feeling strong.
And I turned on the ignition.
"Three, two, one,...blast-off!" I was off
On my lunar mission.
Up I went high into the sky
Up higher, and higher, and soon
I had left the earth far behind.
I climbed down from the rocket,
But the stairs were really quite steep.
I leaped from the rocket to land on the rocky moon.
I felt happy, joyful all the words you could think of.
I had done it, I was officially the first person that had landed on the moon.

Kia Ora Bella, this is Shannon from the Summer Learning Journey.
ReplyDeleteYour poem is utterly brilliant. I love how you’ve sectioned it off into different stages of the launch and I really like how you have let your audience feel like they’re apart of the space mission. What an incredible job you have done!
I noticed you included a lot of emotions in this poem, feeling strong, happy, and joyful. It’s great to focus on conveying an emotional journey because I imagine if you were an astronaut heading to the moon you’d have a lot of feelings to process. I’ve always wanted to go to another planet. Imagine it, it’d be so cool. There would be a whole new terrain to navigate and you might even see aliens! What do you think aliens would look like? I think they’d be green with lots of eyes and two noses.
I would really appreciate if you could please increase the size of your text so it is a little bit bigger and easier to read. This would appeal to your readers.
Happy blogging!
Shannon
