Medical Mavericks

Hi Everyone,
It has been so lovely being able to participate in these fun activities with the Summer Learning Journey Programme! Today’s task is “Medical Mavericks” please follow the link to the Noble Prize Winners, chose one, read about them and then share your learning on your blog. On your blog tell your readers who you chose and then tell us about them in five to ten sentences. Who were they? What did they do that was so special? Lastly, feel free to include a picture of your chosen Noble Prize Winner on your blog. This activity was really interesting and I learnt a lot about the person I chose. Who was your favourite Noble Piece Prize Winner? I hope you enjoy.

The person I chose for my Noble Piece Prize person was Peter Handke he received the Nobel Prize in Literature 2019. Peter Handke is an Austrian-born Nobel laureate novelist, playwright, translator, poet, film director and screenwriter. The Nobel Prize in Literature 2019 was awarded to Peter Handke "for an influential work that with linguistic ingenuity has explored the periphery and the specificity of human experience."

This is why he created a prize that would reward the discoveries that have conferred the greatest benefit to humankind. Since 1901, the Nobel Prize has been awarded in the fields of physics, chemistry, physiology or medicine, literature and peace, while a memorial prize in economic sciences was added in 1968. I chose Peter Handke for My Noble Piece Prize person because I really enjoy reading different novels, poems, movies and many more. As I was reading through a few articles it sounds to me that he is a very inspirational, hardworking and a determined man.

  1. Kia Ora Bella,

Peter Handke is an amazing literate. He does remarkable work and was definitely worthy of his win in 2019. He has published so many things in his life and made such an amazing impact in his field. You;ve done a brilliant job summarising who he is and what he has accomplished, well done!

I really enjoy reading and writing, do you? What are your favourite things to write? I quite like short stories and poems. My favourite short story is “Singing My Sister Down”. It’s utterly brilliant and made me feel so many emotions. What’s yours?

Do you know any more facts about Peter Handke? Perhaps you could include some of the things he’s done, and his more famous works into your post so your readers understand why he was the most worthy of the Nobel Prize. Don’t forget, if you include a quote, to reference where it came from.

    Happy blogging,
    Shannon (SLJ)
