Hello Bloggers, Today's task in Shaw Literacy was to create a six-line poem also known as the Sestins (New Zealand Writing) A sestina is a form of poetry that has thirty-nine lines, although our one was shorter. It follows a pattern of repeating six words throughout the six stanzas of the poem. To write a sestina, start by brainstorming ideas and studying the structure of the poem. Then, use sensory detail and imagery to make the poem come to life. We had to include (About something you saw on your journey, Something you remember, A person who was with you, A wonderful imagined thing that didn't actually happen, The reason for your journey, Your own six-word sentence) This is my Sestina for New Zealand Writing. We will be sending it to a school in Hamilton (Fairfield). I am definitely looking forward to reading theirs. Have you created a Sestina in writing before?
I was watching a fairy dreamily
While the fairy was prancing gleefully
With my best friend forever Lilly
As hours past I was dreaming
Because I slept in my bed
