Essay (Writing)

Hello Bloggers, Today's Task For My Home Learning Is To write your Essay. In class, before the LockDown occurred we were focusing on writing our Essays which were entitled by the film we watched called Remember The Titans. Remember The Titans was such a great and motivational movie about A football team and two coaches. One of the coaches got replaced and it changed everything. These boys on the Football Team are not communicating and are not friends, although along with the near ending of the movie everyone begins to start coming together as a team and respecting each other. Coach Boone also has a very tremendous job, after he took over Coach Yoast's Job he had to put a mix of two different races (Black and White) together, which would have been very difficult to manage. In around the early times, Both Black And White were segregated and went to different schools. And know if we look at the years 2020 all Black And White people attend the same schools and are integrated. Have you ever seen the movie Remember The Titans?

Learning A Song

Hello Bloggers, Todays Task For My Home Learning is if you play a musical instrument learn a new song. Some people may not know although I have a Ukulele and I learnt how to play "Just The Way You Are" By Bruno Mars. The song was so much fun to learn, and because I already know most of the chords it was quite simple to follow along. In the song, there are many different instruments that match the beat. Playing a musical instrument can improve your health in many different ways. Researchers have found that learning to play a musical instrument can enhance verbal memory, spatial reasoning and literacy skills. Playing an instrument makes you use both sides of your brain, which strengthens memory power. Playing a musical instrument makes people in many different ways also, it builds confidence. But the single most important benefit of playing an instrument is that it makes you happy. It can pick you up when you're down, calm you when you're angry. Can you play in Musical Instruments?

Why Mike King Started Gumboot Friday

Hello Bloggers, Todays Task For My Home Learning is to write another article. This article is named "Why Mike King Started Gumboot Friday". Gumboot Friday encourages people to wear gumboots and give a gold coin donation to help fund free counselling for kids. Comedian Mike King started Gumboot Friday as a fun way to talk about mental health his goal is to raise $5 million through the initiative. Alize Rasmussen, 11 years old from Linwood Primary School, meets Mike and asks him about Gumboot Friday and why counselling is so important. In a past life, Mike was one of New Zealand's most well-known entertainers, but that role has changed dramatically since the conception of the radio show The Nutters Club in 2009. The show evolved from Mike's own experience of mental illness and addiction and has become a huge success with it now airing Sunday evenings on Newstalk ZB. These days, Mike is better known for his work as a prominent mental health educator and Ambassador for both I Am Hope and the Key to Life Charitable Trust.

Book Review (Seekers)

Hello Bloggers, Todays Task With My Home Learning is to write a Book Review. I chose to write mine about Seekers which is A polar bear cub in an era of disappearing ice loses her mother to orca whales. A grizzly cub's mother abandons him after his sickly brother dies. And a black bear cub, who lives in a zoo, escapes finding the grizzly after meeting his captured mother. All three must learn to survive in the wild on their own, and all three are drawn by the North Star toward a mysterious fate. Includes maps of the bears' journeys. As I read this book for the first time, I was unaware that it was part of a series. I was shocked and upset to discover it at the end of the book! The first chapter of the second book that is included in the first was a bit of appeasement, for which I am grateful. I loved it, but as previous readers have said. Read it slowly, there are a lot of details. This novel is written by Erin Hunter. Have you ever read Seekers Before?

Plan And Prepare (Roast)

Hello Bloggers, Todays Task For My Home Learning is to Plan, Prepare and Cook Dinner for your family. I nicely set out the Place Mats with Knives and Forks also a Coaster to place your mugs on. Tonight I made a Roast for my family, my mum also helped me. The first thing we did was preheat the oven to 240 degrees. Wash and roughly chop the vegetables there’s no need to peel them. Break the garlic bulb into cloves, leaving them unpeeled. On our Roast, we added many different combinations of Vegetables, such as Carrot, Potato, Red Capsicum, Peas in a Pod and Broccoli. The Roast didn't take that long to cook and when we were ready to eat it was delicious. A healthier roast dinner is a great place to start when it comes to cutting back on the calories a little. Families around the country are bound to appreciate a meal with less fat, lower cholesterol, fewer calories, and more nutrients. What is your favourite Dinner Meal Eat?

Hello Bloggers, Todays Task For My Home Learning is to create a piece of Tesselation Art. I remember creating Tesselations last year in my Numeracy Group. If you are wondering what Tesselations are A tessellation of a flat surface is the tiling of a plane using one or more geometric shapes, called tiles, with no overlaps and no gaps. In mathematics, tessellations can be generalized to higher dimensions and a variety of geometries. Reading

Hello Bloggers, Todays Task for my Home Learning Is To Read for thirty minutes, I chose to read Heroes Of The Holocaust. Maria Andzelm was a Catholic teenager growing up in Nazi-occupied Poland. One by one, her Jewish friends and neighbours were hauled away to undisclosed locations, never to be seen or heard from again. Then Maria's family took in two Jewish men. They hid them in a box underneath the floor of their barn. Every day, Maria brought them food to satisfy and feed their stomachs and books to feed their minds. She did this every day for two years and paid a terrible price from what happens after the story. What is your favourite book to read?

Puzzle (Horse)

Hello Bloggers, Today's Task for my Home Learning I decided to complete another JigSaw Puzzle and see if I can get an improved time. I did a horse which was sixty pieces and it took me ten minutes and sixteen seconds to complete. There was a variety of different Puzzles, some in which had a certain level you can choose from. If your average at Puzzles, I would recommend completing a thirty piece Puzzle. And finally, if you are an advanced Puzzle Person you should complete over one hundred or two hundred pieces. What websites do you use to complete Puzzles?

Haiku (Poem)

Hello Bloggers, Today's Task for my Home Learning is to create a Haiku which is a traditional form of Japanese poetry. Haiku poems consist of 3 lines. The first and last lines of a Haiku have 5 syllables and the middle line has 7 syllables. The lines rarely rhyme. I first wrote a Haiku when I was a year seven in my Literacy Group. Writing, speaking, and understanding can all be greatly influenced and nurtured by the use of poetry. Speaking poetry aloud with its beat, rhythm, and rhyme can loosen the tongue and craft a firm foundation for verbal communication. I'm sorry I have written my Haiku although my screenshot will not show on my screen. Do you like writing poems If so you should try writing a Haiku?

Kea Kids News (Alligator)

Hello Bloggers, Today's task for my Home Learning is to read an article from Kea Kids News. As soon as I hopped on the Kea Kids News website, there were many very astonishing articles that looked like something that I would personally love to read. The news article that I chose was called "How To Move An Alligator Across The North Island". The article was about an Alligator Named Cheryl, The National Aquarium Of New Zealand in Napier has been borrowing Cheryl from Butterfly Creek in Auckland for over nine years when they should have had Cheryl for two years instead of nine. The National Aquarium was very sad that Cheryl had to leave although they were very happy that she was going to be in her own habitat environment especially with her family. Butterfly Creek's Ryan Gedye showed KEA Kids News the long circular crate that he used to bring Cheryl back to Tāmaki Makaurau, and even let our intrepid reporter India George pop inside and have a look. Ryan showed us how exactly the Alligator will go inside of the crate and then leave the crate once she got home. The reports from Kea Kids News today were great they were also very confident and intriguing. I would love to have the opportunity for Kea Kids News to come to my school and we could report something of our own. Have you ever seen Kea Kids News before, Or have you ever been on the show before?

India George tries out the custom crate created to transport Cheryl the alligator. After 9 years, Cheryl the alligator has a newly built habitat.

Play A Board Game (Snakes And Ladders)

Hello Bloggers, Today's home learning for my Distance Task is to play a game with your siblings. I have many board games in my cupboard although I chose to play Snakes and Ladders because it is a game I enjoy playing. We played for a while, I went down many snakes and my sister managed to climb up many ladders but yet somehow I still won the game by reaching one hundred. If you would like some instructions on how to play Snakes and Ladders here they are, what is your favourite board game to play in your spare time?

Each player should roll one die to see who gets the highest number. Whoever rolls the highest number gets to take the first turn. After the first player takes a turn, the person sitting to that player’s left will take a turn. Play continues in a circle going left. The ladders on the game board allow you to move upwards and get ahead faster. If you land exactly on a square that shows an image of the bottom of a ladder, then you may move your game piece all the way up to the square at the top of the ladder. If you land at the top of a ladder or somewhere in the middle of a ladder, just stay put. You never move down ladders. Some versions have snakes on the board, while others have chutes (slides). Snakes (or chutes) move you back on the board because you have to slide down them. If you land exactly at the top of a snake or chute, slide your game piece all the way to the square at the bottom of the snake or chute

If you roll a six, then you get an extra turn. First, move your piece forward six squares and then roll the die again. If you land on any snakes or ladders, follow the instructions above to move up or down and then roll again to take your extra turn. As long as you keep rolling sixes, you can keep moving!  The first person to reach the highest square on the board wins, usually square 100. But there's a twist! If you roll too high, your piece "bounces" off the last square and moves back. You can only win by rolling the exact number needed to land on the last square.

Emma Watson!

Hello Bloggers, Today's task for home learning is to create a presentation about someone you look up too, in which it has to be a famous person. I chose to write about Emma Watson (Hermione Granger) Emma Watson is best known for playing the character of Hermione Granger, one of Harry Potter's best friends in the 'Harry Potter' film franchise. Emma Watson was born on April 15, 1990, in Paris, France, but raised in England. The actress got her big break as a child with Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone, growing up on the screen as she reprised her role of Hermione Granger through the franchise's eight films. Watson went on to enjoy success in the fashion and modelling industries and continued to prove her abilities as an actress. Who is someone you admire and look up too that is famous?

Treasures Of The Snow Book Cover

Hello Bloggers, Today's task is to create a book cover and then create a blurb on the back of the book. This task was so much to create. On my book cover, I have created lots of different designs, colours and patterns And write a blurb about the story. You may or may not be able to read the words I have written on their so I will share with you the blurb now. The main characters are a girl named Annette Burnier and a boy named Lucien Morel. They're best friends but they fight sometimes. On Christmas, Annette's mother gives birth to a boy, whom Annette names Dani, but the mother dies after he's born. Five years pass. But after a series of misunderstandings, Lucien is angry at Dani and threatens to throw his pet kitten, Klaus, into a ravine. But Klaus bites him, and Dani falls into the ravine after him. He's alive, but his leg is so severely injured he can't bend it and has to use crutches for the rest of his life. Annette is furious, so much so that whenever Lucien tries to do something nice for them, she deliberately ruins everything he makes. Neither children are happy and have to forgive each other sometime.

What I Have Been During The Week!

Hello Bloggers, As you have all heard of the Corona Virus and we all have to keep safe at home for four weeks. Coronavirus disease (COVID-19) is an infectious disease caused by a new virus. The disease causes respiratory illness (like the flu) with symptoms such as a cough, fever, and in more severe cases, difficulty breathing. You can protect yourself by washing your hands frequently, avoiding touching your face, and avoiding close contact one meter and three meters with people who are unwell. Most people infected with the COVID-19 virus will experience mild to moderate respiratory illness and recover without requiring special treatment. Older people and those with underlying medical problems like cardiovascular disease, diabetes, chronic respiratory disease, and cancer are more likely to develop serious illness. The best way to prevent and slow down transmission is to be well informed about the COVID-19 virus, the disease it causes and how it spreads. Protect yourself and others from infection by washing your hands or using an alcohol-based rub frequently and not touching your face. During the week I have been doing my set tasks like art, reading, maths and many more. What have you all been doing so far throughout the four week period?

Pepeha

Hello Bloggers, How has your week been? Today we are celebrating our one year anniversary since the mosque attack (March 15th 2019). Today's task is to create our very own Pepeha. Pepeha is a way of introducing oneself. Using a set structure it identifies who we are, where we're from and where we belong. Pepeha is used in a Māori context and has a formal basis, but the idea is universal. Everyone has a Pepeha which links them to their ancestors. We also had to include our bitmoji to our Pepeha, I really love mine and I'm so proud of it. Have you created a Pepeha before?

Mean, Median, Mode (Coding)

Hello Bloggers, We have been learning about Mean, Median and Mode. As a way of showing our learning, we have created a Scratch programme. Scratch is a coding programme and teaching a lot of computational thinking skills. To code, we need to learn to have inputs, output, sequence, selection, iteration and storage. There is some problem solving and debugging that we need to do too, because there may be errors that stop the code from working properly. When you ask my cat what Mean, Median or Mode is please make sure you use a capital for the first letter. Have you ever used scratch for your learning before?

Samoan Counting -10 (Coding)

Hello Bloggers, Today after we finished Technology, our task was to create an animation using Scratch about how to Count to Ten in Samoan. Coding is a skill where you take instructions on the steps in a task and translate it into a language the computer understands since computers do not communicate like humans. They communicate in a language called BINARY and it is using 0's and 1's. Here is my Samoan Counting from 1 - 10. Type a number you would like to learn and my clever cat will translate the language for you.

My Sestina (New Zealand Writing)

Hello Bloggers, Today's task in Shaw Literacy was to create a six-line poem also known as the Sestins (New Zealand Writing) sestina is a form of poetry that has thirty-nine lines, although our one was shorter. It follows a pattern of repeating six words throughout the six stanzas of the poem. To write a sestina, start by brainstorming ideas and studying the structure of the poem. Then, use sensory detail and imagery to make the poem come to life. We had to include (About something you saw on your journey, Something you remember, A person who was with you, A wonderful imagined thing that didn't actually happen, The reason for your journey, Your own six-word sentence) This is my Sestina for New Zealand Writing. We will be sending it to a school in Hamilton (Fairfield). I am definitely looking forward to reading theirs. Have you created a Sestina in writing before?

I was watching a fairy dreamily
While the fairy was prancing gleefully
With my best friend forever Lilly
As hours past I was dreaming
Because I slept in my bed
