Home (Wizard Of Oz)

Hello Bloggers, Todays Home Learning Task In Literacy Is Home Theme From The Wizard Of Oz. We had three different questions and we had to think of the answers from our own perspective and not entirely what the question says. These were the questions we had to answer. (Dorothy is in Kansas in the first and last chapters. How has her home changed in the meantime? Why did Oz never feel like home to the wizard? Why did it never feel like home to Dorothy Dorothy travels a long way just to end up back where she started. Do you think she'd call her journey pointless? Why or why not?) Dorothy had many different obstacles she had to dodge over the novel although with the help of her three companions Scarecrow, Tin Woodman and the Lion they are able to overcome them. Who is your favourite Character in the Wizard Of Oz?

Literacy

Hello Bloggers, Todays Home Learning Task For Literacy Is Perseverance. There were three different Questions that we had to answer with an explanation. They were Think about a time when the gang felt like giving up. What kept them going? Who is the most persistent character in Oz? Explain your answer. The gang encounters many obstacles. Not including their encounter with the Wicked Witch of the West, which one seemed the direst? How did they get out of it? After we answered the Following Questions we had to add an image to make it look very decorative. Next, our Week-Long Task involves us to create our very own Wizard Of Oz Setting. Comparing from Dorothy to Us. What is it like staying at home and doing things differently from school? Then we have to either find some materials from our house and create a picture from our own perspective and imagination of what we think it looks like. Who do you think Perseveres the most throughout the novel The Wonderful Wizard Of Oz?

Friday Learning

Hello Bloggers, Todays Home Learning Task Is To Create Your Own Emoji Idioms. Emoji Idioms are Phrases from Books or Quotes and Translates into Emojis. Some Emojis are very difficult and take a long time to complete. I have come up with some of my own Emoji Idioms for my Friday Learning Task and I have also completed some Anzac Art for those people that represented their country in the War. Emojis are essential to communicate emotion, something that words cannot portray. However, they do not hold value in the academic world or in a context that demands an objective voice. Emojis are meant to be fun, light-hearted, and convey a broad range of emotions efficiently and in a way that words sometimes cannot. Try coming up with your own Emoji Idioms In The Feeback Section and I will try my best to solve them. Have you ever created your own Emoji Idioms?

Anzac (Art)

Hello Bloggers, Todays Home Learning Task It Too Choose Some Art To Complete. I chose Anzac Art to represent all the people that died from the very early war. For my art I have done a Silhouette with a little girl, trees, gates and a field of the sign of the cross. I have also included a sunset background which has Red, Orange, Yellow and I incorporated a different colour using Green. If you are wondering what a Silouhuette is its the image of a person, animal, object or scene represented as a solid shape of a single colour, usually black, with its edges matching the outline of the subject. As you may know, Anzac Day will be held on Monday. Anzac Day is a national day of remembrance in Australia and New Zealand that broadly commemorates all Australians and New Zealanders "who served and died in all wars, conflicts, and peacekeeping operations" and "the contribution and suffering of all those who have served in War". Have you created Silhouette Art Before?

What Does It Mean To Have A Brain (ScareCrow)

Hello Bloggers, Todays Home Learning Task In Literacy Is To Figure Out What It Means To Have A Brain, Referring To The Scarecrow From The Wizard Of Oz. For this task, we had to figure out what does it mean to Have A Brain how does it make us Think and Feel. We also had to add a Quote and write down the Meaning of that Quote. This is what I wrote. The brain is where we do our thinking and where we can express our ideas and creativity. All our senses are tied into our brain allowing us to experience the outside world. If someone has a good brain they have the ability and audacity to learn and understand things quickly, to either solve problems or to make good decisions. Without A brain you wouldn't be able to feel human emotions and to think, feel or function properly. People that think of the best side of things also have a positive and growth mindset some of these things are Self-trust mindset. To do anything great, you have to be able to trust yourself and believe in your capabilities and to be courageous. For example, Dorothy has to have a positive and focused mindset so that she can lead the way with her friends through to the Emerald City. Not only that she has to think wisely when she is following the yellow brick road and what paths to take. “Can't you give me brains?" asked the Scarecrow."You don't need them. You are learning something every day. A baby has brains, but it doesn't know much. Experience is the only thing that brings knowledge, and the longer you are on earth the more experience you are sure to get.” My interpretation of this quote is referring that the scarecrow does actually have brains but he doesn't really know it so it's a self-discovery, and at the beginning of life when you come into this world not knowing anything each day as you continue to learn and meet new experiences like school, for example, you become more in-depth and grow to understand things a lot more. And the longer you travel places and learn new discoveries the more experienced you are sure to get at it.

What Does It Mean To Have Courage (Literacy)

Hello Bloggers, Todays Home Learning Task In Literacy Is To Find Out What Does It Mean To Show True Courage. For this task, we are referring Courage to the movie and book The Wonderful Wizard Of Oz. On Dorothy's way to the Emerald City she meets a Scarecrow who needs a brain, a Tin Man who wants a heart, and a Cowardly Lion who desperately needs courage. They all hope the Wizard of Oz will help them before the Wicked Witch of the West catches up with them. The Cowardly Lion joins her so that he can ask The Wizard for courage, ashamed that he is not brave enough to play his cultural role of the King of the Beasts. Despite outward evidence that he is unreasonably fearful, The Cowardly Lion displays great bravery along the way by helping his friends on the journey they are going. What do you think it means to have and show Courage?

Circles (Numeracy)

Hello Bloggers, Todays Home Learning Task In Numeracy Is To Create A Graph Which Labels On It Item, Diameter, Radius And Circumference. Our Teacher asked us to find five circular items. Next, we had to measure with a ruler the Diameter of the shape, Then we had to figure out the Radius which was simple because all you had to do was half the number of the Diameter. Soon after we had to figure out the circumference, by doing this I grabbed some string and wrapped the string around the outside of the shape I had been given and then laid that measurement against the ruler and that would be my circumference. Lastly, we had to work out the Pie so we had Pie times the Diameter which Pie is 3.1415 times the Diameter we had recorded down on our sheet. This activity was so enjoyable and it keeps your brain active. The items I used to complete this challenge was a Ruler, Paper, Pen, String and my five chosen Items. What are you learning for Numeracy this Term?

Design Witch (Antagonist)

Hello Bloggers, Todays Home Learning Task is To Design And Create An Antagonist Story About A Witch. We Video Chat Our Teacher and he explained our task for today. He asked us to really dive deep within our story and get really creative. My antagonist story is about A Wicked Witch Named Miss Agatha. She was put up for adoption when she was younger by her parents and now she lives in the deepest darkest forest where the lampost flickers. She has a very ancient tracking device and she finds homes of all children who have lost either their first tooth. She waits until the whole family is asleep and sneaks in, she grabs the child's tooth and places it in her pocket until she makes her way back into the forest where there is a forbidden vault. When you open the vault you can see many diamonds and jewels. She carves out your tooth until it forms into a substance of diamonds and quartz. And the next morning when each child awakes they panic and feel distressed about where their tooth has gone. Have you written a creative story about a Wicked Witch and an antagonist backdrop?

Reading (Thirty Minutes)

Hello Bloggers, Todays Home Learning Task Is To Read A Book For Thirty Minutes. I have still been listening to the David Walliams Audio Books for over the past couple of weeks. Not only that, although I have also been reading my book the "Heroes Of The HauloCast" and I am over half way finishes. Heroes Of The Holocaust is about Maria Andzelm was a Catholic teenager growing up in Nazi-occupied Poland. One by one, her Jewish friends and neighbours were hauled away to undisclosed locations, never to be seen or heard from again. Then Maria's family took in two Jewish men. They hid them in a box underneath the floor of their barn. Every day, Maria brought them food to satisfy their stomachs and books to feed their minds. She did this every day for two years and paid a terrible price. This is a book that talks about the teenagers that risked their lives to help the Jews during the time of occupied Poland. It also displays the attitudes that the teens had to put up with. The teens put their lives in jeopardy to help others around them.

Kea Kids News (How Students Are In Lock Down)

Hello Bloggers, Todays Home Learning Task Is To Read A Kea Kids News Article. There were many different articles about the Corona Virus Pandemic and how students are surviving and what they are doing to keep themselves busy and entertained. In this Kea Kids News Article, I was first joined by Grace Vowles who lives in Los Angeles California, and she was explaining her daily schedule. Not only that I was also joined by Terry Hunsdales who lives in Great Barrier, and her dad just arrived at their home in time or else he would have had to stay in his minivan for one month. And finally, two sisters named Alessia and Chiara Curlotti live on the other side of the world in Italy, in Italy the people are not even allowed out of their own property even if it was just to buy some food so they can eat. Depending on how the Virus has spread in their country and what their law tells them then they can go out. The two sisters also made a very beautiful canvas that is a rainbow that says in Italian "Andrà Tutto bene" which means, "Everything will be OK", or "Don't give up" as a way to show unity and express hope.

Book Review (Treasures Of The Snow)

Hello Bloggers, Todays Task For My Home Learning is to write a Book Review. I am going to be doing a book review on Treasures Of The Snow because it is a book I have read. Treasures of the Snow is a book written by Patricia St John. It is set in Switzerland in about 1950 and is centred on one boy's mistake. The story tells how a young boy breaks his leg by falling over a cliff while trying to rescue his kitten which Lucien had dropped over the cliff. This book is great especially for children aged around ten plus. I personally think that Treasures Of The Snow is one of my favourite books. It has great alliteration it is also a thriller and many more. Have you ever read Treasures Of The Snow Book?

Throughout the LockDown, I have been for numerous Bike Rides and also including walks with my dog and family. For my Bike Ride with my Mum, Dad and Siblings. I went all around my neighbourhood for one hour. Studies show that people who choose to bike or walk tend to suffer from depression, anxiety, and other mental health issues less than others. Getting exercise by biking or walking can help to increase blood flow, release endorphins, and reduce overall stress that you are feeling. Coding

Hello Bloggers, Todays Task Home Learning Task Is to complete some Coding. Coding is a basic literacy in the digital age, and it is important for kids to understand and be able to work with and understand the technology around them. Having children learn coding at a young age prepares them for the future. Coding helps children with communication, creativity, math, writing, and confidence. This website that I used was really helpful and challenging at some points. As you may or may not know, Coding requires many different skills but mainly it focuses on computational thinking. In each of the following challenges I completed, you had to write a code so you can get your character to reach the diamond which is at the end of each level.
